The Ministry's measure of the socio-economic barriers this school's students face, used to decide its equity funding. It replaced school deciles in 2023. Across the 2,483 schools with an index it runs from about 344 to 569, and a higher number means greater barriers.

It is not a measure of how good a school is, in either direction, and it is not a measure of income — parental income is one of many things it counts, alongside qualifications, benefit receipt and how often students change school.
