OwnBetter brand guidelines

Our logo in every version you might need, our colours and typefaces, and how to use them so OwnBetter looks the same everywhere it appears.

Our name

OwnBetter is a home for your home: one place for the bills, repairs, insurance, trades and mortgage that come with owning property in New Zealand.

Write it like this

  • OwnBetter: one word, capital O and capital B
  • OwnBetter Pro for the adviser and agent product
  • ownbetter.co.nz in lower case, without “www”
  • “A home for your home” in sentences; lower case under the logo

Not like this

  • Own Better
  • Ownbetter
  • OWNBETTER
  • Own-Better
  • OB (except in internal shorthand)

Clear space and minimum size

Give the logo room. Keep everything (text, edges, other logos) at least x away on every side, where x is half the height of the mark.

xxxx
The shaded area stays clear. x = ½ × mark height.

Minimum sizes

VersionScreenPrint
Primary logo120 px wide30 mm wide
Logo with tagline180 px wide45 mm wide
Stacked logo80 px wide20 mm wide
Mark16 px6 mm

Below these sizes, switch down: logo with tagline → primary logo → mark. The tagline is the first thing to go when space is short.

Please don’t

The logo only works if it looks the same every time. If a layout needs one of these, it needs a different layout.

Don’t stretch or squash it
Don’t rotate it
Don’t recolour it
Don’t add shadows, glows or outlines
Don’t place the full-colour logo on coral or other mid-tones
Don’t put it on a busy image without a calm panel behind it
Don’t rearrange the mark and wordmark
Don’t retype the wordmark

Colour

Mostly white and sky with ink for words. Coral and sun are the warmth: use them for the one thing on the screen you want noticed. Select any swatch to copy its hex value.

Core

The four colours of the logo. Ink and white carry almost every screen; coral and sun are accents.

Coral, working shades

Coral at full strength fails contrast with white. These shades take its place wherever it has to be read.

Sky

The hero and interaction colour: links, focus, search.

Leaf

Success and reassurance: confirmations, badges, “free” callouts.

Neutrals and warm

Secondary text, lines and the warm panel that frames consent and privacy content.

Contrast

Text must reach WCAG AA: 4.5:1, or 3:1 for text 24px and up. White never sits on bright coral; use coral button instead.

Typography

Two grotesks from Adobe Fonts: a sturdy one with character for headings, a quiet one for reading.

Web: load the Adobe Fonts project rfd5kqv. Don’t self-host the font files. Office documents and slides without the fonts installed: use Archivo for headings and Inter for text.

Shape and motif

Soft, generous corners and big circles. The sun from the mark returns as a large coral-in-yellow circle cropped by the corner of a panel: once per screen, never behind text.
