During Cyclone Gabriel, heavy rainfall instigated a landslide at 140 Birkdale Road Birkenhead College . This led to the rupture of a pipe and subsequent wastewater spillage on the property. A temporary pipe was installed to halt the overflows into the surroundin g environment. These works works required removal of vegetation from a Significant Ecological Area SEA . For a more permanent solu tion, construction of a retaining wall, a new manhole and wastewater pipeline will be necessary.
