The owner did not give the council an engineering assessment in time, so the council is proceeding as if the building is earthquake-prone. The rating is the council's, not an engineer's.

The earthquake-prone parts

  • URM parapets and chimneys: There are three seperate structures. 33A and 33B are joint and with a gap between these two and 35. Cafe Rossi is stone masonry. The stone wall facing Tarbert St a small percentage as glass frontage. The wall to the north west is a small alley way which is not public, the wall to the south east is adjacent to a courtyard which has seating. The facade is wooden. 33A is a concrete block structure and has a wooden parapet. 33 appears to be a concrete structure (can see boxing marks)
